Head of Research, Department Creative Technologies

markus.tatzgern@fh-salzburg.ac.at

Dr. Markus Tatzgern is professor for Mixed Reality and Game Development and Head of Research of the Department Creative Technologies and the associated Digital Realities Lab at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. with highest distinction from the Graz University of Technology. He was post-doctoral researcher at the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Handheld Augmented Reality, a world leading research laboratory for mobile augmented reality. Before joining the Christian Doppler Laboratory, he was involved in the FP6 EU-project IPCity and developed mobile and light-weight mixed reality interfaces. His research focuses on developing advanced visualization and interaction techniques for augmented and virtual reality that allow users to efficiently and intuitively explore and access information. As part of his research activities, he investigates use cases for medicine, industry and education. His work was published at top tier conferences and journals of the field, such as ACM CHI, IEEE ISMAR, IEEE VR and IEEE TVCG and Computers&Graphics, and also matured into several patents related to augmented reality visualization. He is also actively contributing to the research community as program comitee member and reviewer for journals and conferences.
